Please consider the following as guiding principles when preparing for your presentation at CoSTaSiL 2023:
- Presentations are expected to be 15 minutes long and will be followed by 5 minutes of discussion.
- We expect presentations to be delivered in real time. However, presenters may opt to pre-record their presentations and play them during their presentation time slot.
- Consider using inclusive practices to allow for audience members to best process the information you are presenting in real time and following your presentation.
- Share your slides or handouts with others when possible (you may use this Google Folder to do so). Please used alt text if you have non-decorative images.
- If you use any audio or video media, please make sure that it is captioned.
- Consider these presentation guidelines, shared by the POD Network.
- Think of your presentation as an opportunity to teach your colleagues about your work in the same way that you would share similar concepts in your classroom.
- As a conference on scholarly teaching and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), we will be adopting the ISSOTL conference pedagogy
The Conference Space(s)
Our conference will be taking place in person at UMass Amherst, with some presenters and audience members joining remotely. As such, it is important that we consider both in-person and remote audience members when designing and delivering the presentations.
The presentation room will be equipped with two cameras so that those joining by Zoom will be able to see both the presenter (with shared screen capabilities) and the audience members, and those in the room will be seated in round tables of 3-4.
COVID-19 Guidelines
We are a “mask welcome” conference, and we ask that those attending in-person refrain from joining the group if they are experiencing symptoms. We encourage you to read the UMass Amherst Covid-19 FAQ page for more information.
