*** Please note that this page is strictly for those who are presenting in CoSTaSiL 23 and who have registered for the conference. If you are attending the conference as an audience member, please check out this page for more information about the conference. ***
The following information (with working links) was sent to all registered presenters on July 3rd. If you are a registered presenter and you did not receive the email, please email us at scholarlyteaching@lsadc.org as soon as possible.
- Pre-conference survey: This conference is sponsored by the National Science Foundation grant, and we will be conducting a study that includes a pre-conference survey. Please fill out the survey linked in the July 3rd email by Thursday, July 6.
- Participant stipend: All presenters (in person and remote) are eligible to receive a $350 stipend for participating in CoSTaSiL. Please fill out the Google Form linked in the July 3 email by Friday, July 7 to receive your stipend. Please be aware that only presenters who are able to participate in both full days of CoSTaSiL are eligible for payment. Also, if you are co-presenting, we are able to disburse stipends for all presenters who will be in attendance and have registered by the June 30th registration deadline. If your co-presenters are planning on attending and have not yet registered, please ask them to register at this link ASAP and we may still be able to pay them if they attend.
- Remote participation: Remote participants will be able to attend all sessions of CoSTaSiL. This includes a modified Zoom ‘working lunch’ session for reflecting on each of the daily plenary talks at 11:45am ET. Please use the Zoom link provided at the bottom of this email to join both days of the conference.
- Conference location: Our conference will take place in room S311 in the Integrative Learning Center (ILC; in 3C on this campus map). The room is on the third floor of the building, and is close to both accessible and gender-neutral restrooms.
- Parking: If you are staying at the conference hotel and have a car, parking is available for hotel guests at the rate of $6 per day. If you are not staying at the hotel and need parking, day parking is free on campus on Saturday and Sunday.
- Carpooling from the airport: If you are interested in possibly carpooling with other conference attendees, you can fill out the Google Sheet linked in the July 3rd email and make arrangements with other participants. There are also some shuttle options, listed on this page under the ‘by air’ tab.
- Presentation guidelines: Since there are conference participants joining us both remotely and in person, we’ll be using Zoom to share our screens. If you are presenting remotely, you will have the ability to share your screen. If you have audio files in your presentation, please make sure that you enable the advanced settings for optimizing audio sharing. If you are sharing video, it may work better without optimizing the video sharing capabilities. If you are presenting in person, we prefer that you use our laptop to do so. You can either bring your presentation on a flash drive (USB or USB-C) or share it with us by emailing the file or link to scholarlyteaching@lsadc.org.
- Handouts: To ensure that all participants have access to your handouts, if you plan to use them, please upload them no later than the night before your presentation to the Google Drive folder linked in the July 3rd email. There are no printing facilities available on campus, and the nearest copy shop closes at 2pm on Friday and is closed on weekends. We highly recommend that, if you plan on having handouts, that you bring 40 copies with you.
- Pre-conference check-in (Friday): If you would like to check that your technology works, either by Zoom or in person, feel free to join us on Friday, from 1pm to 3pm in ILC S311 (in person) or the Zoom link listed below.
- Optional Saturday reception: We will be hosting a joint reception with light refreshments and appetizers with participants of the Bridging fieldwork, corpus, and experimental methods to study sociolectal variation workshop on Saturday evening. We hope you can join us for this great networking opportunity.
- Please refer to the presenter guidelines for more information.
